Digital Rock Star? Oracle? Gardener
Which hat are you wearing today?
Being a marketing leader today sometimes feels as though you need to be part rock star, master gardener and all-knowing oracle.
Like you, we’ve done more than our fair share of becoming cross-eyed from reviewing thousands and thousands of charts and graphs of market research, web analytics, and sales projections. We’ve grappled with helping customers understand that branding is about amplifying the truth, not inventing a convenient one. We’ve analyzed, and thought, and re-thought until our brains hurt so much it required generous applications of our favorite libations, lots of chocolate, and watching reruns of M*A*S*H to feel somewhat normal.
But at the core of who we are as marketing leaders, it is by the thoughtful exercise of our expertise and appropriate use of our knowledge that others will judge in what ways and how well we’ve added value to the world. We believe that marketing, when used ethically and for the common good, makes a positive contribution to society.
We desire to make this world a better place. Thus, our professional creed as marketing leaders is:
- Be impeccable with our word
- Do no harm
- Be constantly curious
- Hear with our hearts, not just our ears
- Listen to understand
- Don’t assume
- Always do our very best
- Recognize that everyone else is doing their very best
- Examine useful and relevant information—yet question whatever appears to be neither
- Speak only when we add value to the conversation
- Take nothing personally
